2019 ACBA President Cheryl Poncini was honored earlier this year by Legal Assistance for Seniors (LAS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit which works with seniors and dependent adults in Alameda County. Last June, at LAS’ annual conference in San Francisco, Cheryl was presented with LAS’ 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award for her work, as an Alameda County deputy district attorney, with seniors and dependent adults. Most notably was her work, for over ten years, designing and presenting outreach programs for the Alameda County community. Those programs focused on elder abuse, neglect and financial exploitation awareness, with the goals of increasing awareness and reducing the potential of seniors and dependent adults becoming victims of these crimes. For several years, she also chaired a county-wide committee of professionals who worked with seniors and dependent adults, as well as designed and presented an annual seminar for professionals who worked with seniors and dependent adults, focusing on issues and speakers relevant to their work. Congratulations, Cheryl!
