Be well, do well

ACBA Wellness Section

ACBA Wellness welcomes you to wake-up and smell the roses every day this week, the first-ever Lawyer Well-Being Week, May 4-8, 2020.

Lawyer Well-Being Week springs from the efforts of the National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being. Formed by a coalition of three national organizations for attorneys (National Organization of Bar Counsel, the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, and the ABA Commission on Lawyers Assistance Programs), the National Task Force now includes thirteen national legal associations representing the judiciary, regulators, bar examiners, lawyers’ assistance programs, law schools, global law firms, and the risk-management and insurance industry.

As stated on its website, “The mission of the National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being is to catalyze a movement to improve health and well-being in the legal profession.”

Among other interesting, informative, and really helpful information is one page replete with Well-Being Resources. Toolkits include Physical Health, Golf Fitness, a Sleep Hygiene Checklist, and many other resources. Please give yourself a moment to check out their website. It could very well change your life, and improve the lives of those you love.

From each of us at ACBA Wellness to you, especially in these challenging times requiring lawyers once again to lead the way, let’s all help each other to — Be well, work well

COVID-19: This is a wild time of uncertainty and fear as we shelter in place to flatten the curve and protect our community’s most vulnerable. Part of “wellness” during this time is making sure we think critically about the information we receive and the source. Check out this article from the Federal Trade Commission on Thinking critically about Coronavirus news and information.

New events are added regularly. Visit the ACBA calendar for more upcoming ACBA events.

Check out the ACBA Facebook page for articles on wellness in our profession.

The ACBA is committed to sharing resources available to the legal community to treat the whole individual. The legal profession can be brutal, and a work/life balance is crucial for a successful sustained career. Please check out the resources below that we’ve compiled.
