Build Your Practice
Lawyer Referral Service – Grow Your Practice!
What is LRS?
The Alameda County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) refers clients to attorneys who have been assigned to various subject matter panels. Our service is well-established, respected in the Alameda County legal community, and certified by the State Bar of California under Business and Professions Code §6155.
Why Should I Join?
LRS receives more than 18,000 calls and emails a year. Our trained staff only refer cases matching your experience and interests. As an LRS panel member, you receive quality referrals for a small fraction of the cost of advertising in the yellow pages or on the internet. Whether you are hanging a shingle for the first time, or have an established practice, we can help your practice grow.
Am I Able to Join?
You are eligible to join the Lawyer Referral Service if you:
- Are able to meet with clients in a confidential setting in Alameda County
- Carry malpractice insurance
- Provide proof of experience for required panels
How Does it Work?
There are two ways for LRS clients to be referred to you. The traditional referral involves a client contacting the Lawyer Referral Service and explaining his or her legal problem to a professional referral counselor. After evaluating the case, the LRS counselor provides the client with contact information for up to two qualified attorneys. The client then contacts you directly to schedule their phone consultation. The referral includes a consultation of up to 30 minutes with an attorney. At that time, you can decide whether you can help them and discuss your fee arrangement.
In addition, the LRS has launched a pilot project where clients are referred to you automatically through the Qase platform without the intervention of an LRS counselor. This is an additional way for you to receive LRS referrals. Clients will self-identify the area of law in which they need assistance and then submit a brief description of their legal problem. You have the option of accepting or declining the client’s request for an initial consultation. To learn more about this opportunity, please email Rachel Shigekane, rachel@acbanet.org.
