In Memory: William “Bill” DuBois

Bill DuBoisIt is with a heavy heart that we share that ACBA member William “Bill” DuBois passed away last week. We don’t have any details about the service but will keep you posted if we learn more details.

As many of you know, Bill was a titan in the criminal defense arena both in Alameda County and beyond. He spent many years fighting the good fight both in and outside the courtroom. He served on the CAAP Advisory Committee for many years and even when his private practice flourished, he continued to take cases through the Program. We know many of you were taken under his wing early on in your career and have him to thank for your success today.  He was incredibly charming – again both in and outside the courtroom – and could orate like no other. To watch him give a closing argument was akin to taking a master class. Today marks a sad day for the ACBA’s Court Appointed Attorneys Program, those of us lucky enough to know him and the criminal defense community at large.
