Alameda County Superior Court

ACBA member Commissioner Michael Bishay, 56, of Contra Costa County, has been appointed to serve in an interim appointment as a Judge in the Alameda County Superior Court. Commissioner Bishay has served as a Commissioner at the Alameda County Superior Court since 2018. He served as a Commissioner and Supervising Judicial Officer of Family Law at the San Bernardino County Superior Court from 2014 to 2018 and was a Sole Practitioner from 2001 to 2014. Commissioner Bishay earned a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School and a Master of Education degree from California State University, Northridge. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Yolanda Northridge. The Governor’s appointment allows him to immediately assume the position he was otherwise elected to begin in January 2023. Commissioner Bishay is a hero of our pro bono family law programs and our Family Law Boot Camp!

ACBA member Armando Pastran Jr., 43, of Alameda County, has been appointed to serve as a Judge in the Alameda County Superior Court. Armando has served as a Deputy District Attorney at the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office since 2006. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Santa Clara University School of Law. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Winifred Y. Smith. Armando served on many ACBA committees including our Board Nominations Committee.
