Steve Schadlich

ACBA Past-President Stephen Henry Schadlich passed away February 6, 2021. After his military service, Steve enrolled in Boalt Hall law school in Berkeley, then graduated with honors, and passed the Bar in 1963. He first joined Knox, Goforth, and Ricksen in Oakland, as a transactional business attorney. In 1967 he pivoted to Crosby, Heafey, Roach, and May also in Oakland, where he served as the CFO for 15 years, and where he remained until retirement. During his career he was Vice-President and then President of the Alameda County Bar Association. Steve also served as a board member of Children’s Hospital, Oakland. Read his obituary here

Com. James Libbey

Legendary Family Law Commissioner James H. Libbey died February 13th. Commissioner Libbey retired after 25 years as Family Law Commissioner for the Contra Costa County Superior Court in 2007. A graduate of the University of San Francisco Law School, Mr. Libbey was an editorial consultant to Matthew Bender’s California Family Law Monthly, a frequent lecturer to the California Judicial College and a panelist in CEB seminars devoted to family law issues. Mr. Libbey was voted “Family Law Judge of the Year” by the Family Law Section of the State Bar. Read his bio from his retirement dinner here. See his obituary here
