Join the Bay Area Legal Aid Board

Bay Area Legal Aid (BayLegal) is recruiting for ACBA members to be appointed by the ACBA Board to serve on the BayLegal Board of Directors.  Practicing in seven Bay Area counties, BayLegal (www.baylegal.org) is the largest provider of free civil legal services in the Bay Area, and the only recipient of federal Legal Services Corporation (LSC) funding for legal services in the Bay Area.  As an anti-poverty civil law firm, BayLegal has been serving our local communities since the 1960s and is committed to working alongside their clients and community partners to address inter-generational poverty and social inequality.  To support these efforts, Board members engage in extensive fundraising efforts, as well as attending and participating in quarterly board meetings, fulfilling all fiduciary duties, and taking on other tasks as requested.  Terms last for three years and can be renewed.  With unprecedented increase in the civil legal needs of low-income communities BayLegal will continue to focus on increasing individual, law firm and corporate donations in the coming years to support access to justice.

If you have questions, you can email communications@baylegal.org If you are interested in applying to be considered for BayLegal’s Board of Directors, please submit a letter and resume to Tiela Chalmers at: tiela@acbanet.org.  Applications must be received by: February 10, 2021.
