Updates from Local Courts Week June 22th– June 26th

We’ve compiled updates from our local Courts in one post. We’ll update this post as more information comes in this week.

6.23.20 San Joaquin County Superior Court

6.23.20: Law360 – Coronavirus: The Latest Court Closures and Restrictions

As courts across the country take measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, some are restricting access and altering their procedures. Here is a roundup of changes. Read more

6.24.20: U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California

Today, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California posted two General Orders.

  • General Order 72-4, IN RE: Coronavirus Disease Public Health Emergency, adopted June 24, 2020.
  • General Order 74, Temporary Use of Teleconferencing, Videoconferencing, and Other Procedures in Criminal Matters Pursuant to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES ACT”), amended June 24, 2020.

Courthouse access remains temporarily restricted in all four locations, with access allowed only for those with official court business per General Order 73, Continuing Temporary Restrictions on Courthouse Access due to COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, amended May 21, 2020. Updates on courthouse access and temporary safety protocols are posted on the court’s website.

6.26.20: Jury Service Begins Across the State for Trials Delayed by COVID-19 Pandemic

6.26.20: Contra Costa County Superior Court

The Contra Costa Superior Court has issued new emergency local rules for Civil (Fourth Amended), effective Monday, June 29.  The amendment changes the location for picking up endorsed filed copies of Civil Restraining Orders to the 4th floor of the Wakefield Taylor Courthouse. All emergency local rules are available here: https://www.cc-courts.org/local-rules/local-rules.aspx.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
