In Memory: Judge Jacqueline Taber
(excerpt from EBT article Pioneering female judge in Alameda County dies)
Times have changed, but Judge Taber was a trailblazer in Alameda County’s court system: the first female judge to permanently take a seat on the municipal court in 1965, and just the second woman judge in the county, after Judge Cecil Mosbacher became the first.
Taber died Nov. 23, just, two days after her 96th birthday. She was elected to a superior court judgeship after a 1978 race, and although she officially retired in 1996, she continued working in retirement until she left the courts in 2011.
A memorial will be held January 21, 2019, 11am, Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave, Oakland.
Memorial donations may be made to the East Bay SPCA.
