Important DatesNew ACBA programs and events are added daily! For more information about August CLE programs and events, or to register, please call 510-302-2201, visit www.acbanet.org/calendar. Lunch (or snacks for evening events) will be provided for most MCLE programs. Registration begins 30 minutes prior to program start time, and events are held at the ACBA office, at 1000 Broadway, Suite 290, in Oakland, unless stated otherwise. Please note: there will be a $10 administrative fee if you cannot make the program, and do not cancel in advance. A $10 fee will also be assessed for day-of and walk-in registrations.

Easements and Boundary Disputes: Recent Case Developments

In 1996 Prop 215 known as the Compassionate Use Act was passed. It ushered in a movement that has culminated in the nation’s fastest growing industry. Commercial adult-use cannabis is now available in 5 states with over 25 states having some form of medical commercial cannabis markets. This CLE hopes to provide a surface level foundation on the legal history of the medical and adult-use commercial cannabis markets in California.

Film Screening of “And Then They Came For Us”

Come see the groundbreaking documentary “And Then They Came For Us” which covers the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII and parallels it to the recent decision by SCOTUS knows as the “Muslim Ban”.  The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the issue by three distinguished attorneys familiar with the immigration and constitutional law landscape.

Hear from Immigration Judges Carol A. King (Ret.) and Polly Webber (Ret.) on effective case strategies in immigration court.  The judges will address how recent decisions by Attorney General Sessions, the BIA, and the federal courts impact these strategies, including asylum strategy after Matter of A-B-.
