Philip A. Harley Mock Trial Competition

Alameda County’s 2018 Philip A. Harley Memorial Mock Trial Competition is on for January/February. The competition seeks those of you who have graciously volunteered in the past, as well as new participants who would be interested in volunteering for this project.
 
This year there are students from 13 Alameda County high schools portraying the courtroom principals in an intriguing case involving the Fourth Amendment.
 
The competition will take place over eight evenings, from January 29th through February 22nd, in downtown Oakland. There will be an orientation before each session, with a light dinner, at 5:15 p.m. Due to space restrictions this year, they are unable to serve dinner the night of the Semifinal and Final round. The trials begin at 6:00 p.m. and last approximately two hours. The competition dates are as follows:

January 29
February 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20*, 22*

*Semifinals, Finals held at Rene C. Davidson
All other rounds held at the County Administration Building

If you are interested in participating as a scorer for this year’s Mock Trial competition, please fill out the volunteer form here. Sign up for as many evenings as you can and, if you would, please share this volunteer opportunity with your colleagues. Once your participation is confirmed, you will get a packet including this year’s case and the scoring/evaluation guidelines.
