Equal Justice Under the Law – U.S. Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell, Jr.

The Alameda County Bar Association and Volunteer Legal Services Corporation thank you for your support of pro bono legal services in Alameda County! To wrap up our October spotlight on pro bono we found the following inspiring quote from former Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell, Jr. about the importance of equal access to justice.

“Equal justice under law… it is perhaps the most inspiring ideal of our society. It is one of the ends for which our entire legal system exists… it is fundamental that justice should be the same, in substance and availability, without regard to economic status.”
