Court Appointed Attorneys Program

The Court Appointed Attorneys Program (CAAP) provides quality legal services to criminal defendants facing prosecution when the Office of the Public Defender declares a conflict of interest. Panel attorneys’ criminal defense experience ranges from a few months to decades and from simple misdemeanors to special circumstances death penalty cases. To become a CAAP panel member, please contact CAAP Administrator Sarah Brooks at (510) 302-2204 or sarah@acbanet.org.

Lawyer Referral Service

The ACBA Lawyer Referral Service matches clients who need legal representation with lawyers who can help. Our service is well-established and certified by the State Bar of California under Business and Professions Code §6155, and by the American Bar Association. The LRS receives more than 18,000 calls a year. Our trained staff only refer cases matching your experience and interest. Whether you’re hanging out a shingle for the first time or have an established practice, LRS can help your practice grow. To become a LRS panel member, please contact LRS Director Rachel Shigekane at (510) 302-2210 or at rachel@acbanet.org.

Legal Access Alameda

Legal Access Alameda is the pro bono arm of the ACBA. Legal Access mobilizes volunteer attorneys to provide pro bono legal services to low-income people in Alameda County. Legal Access volunteers provide assistance at clinics in family law, bankruptcy, guardianship and more. Support us by volunteering and by making a generous donation. For more information on how to volunteer or donate, please contact Director Christina Wiellette at (510) 302-2216 or at christina@acbanet.org.
