How do I know I'm getting the right lawyer for my case?
The Lawyer Referral Service has attorneys practicing in more than 100 different areas of law, and all LRS attorneys are rigorously screened for their experience, knowledge and professionalism:
Why not just find a lawyer in the phone book or ask a friend?
The LRS has been the trusted source for lawyer referrals in Alameda County for more than 40 years, and is regulated and certified by the State Bar of California. All LRS attorneys are rigorously pre-screened for their experience, knowledge, and professionalism. Additionally, all LRS attorneys are required to carry malpractice insurance. This safeguard allows you and your attorney to focus on what’s important—resolving your legal problem.
How does it work?
When you call the Lawyer Referral Service, you’ll speak with an intake referral counselor who will ask you a few basic questions about your legal situation. For a $35 fee, collected at intake, you will be given contact information for two attorneys qualified to represent you. This fee includes a consultation of up to 30 minutes with an attorney.
During that consultation, you and the attorney will determine whether the attorney will take your case, and agree upon terms of payment. Please note that the average rate for attorneys in California ranges from $200 to $400 per hour.
In the event that you do not need any attorney after all, you will be directed to an governmental, legal, or social services agency that can help you.
