About the Section

The purpose of the Labor & Employment Law Section is to conduct continuing legal education programs, publish and distribute educational and professional materials and undertake other activities that enhance the competence and professional development of lawyers and improve their ability to deliver the highest quality of professional legal services.

Upcoming Events

The Labor & Employment Law Section, in conjunction with the Barristers Section, is presenting a “Nuts and Bolts” series of seminars. The presentations will cover fundamental areas of employment law and procedures that will be useful to anyone practicing employment law. A roundtable discussion will follow a week after each Nuts and Bolts program to give practicioners time to explore hypotheticals and ask questions in a laid back setting.

Labor and Employment Law Nuts and Bolts, Part IV: Wage and Hour Litigation

Please join the ACBA Labor and Employment and Barristers Sections for the fourth program in the Labor and Employment Nuts & Bolts Series. Part IV will cover handling wage and hour claims. Kerry Lewis from the Labor Commissioner’s office will discuss how to execute claims before the Labor Commissioner, and two experienced practitioners will discuss managing wage and hour claims from a plaintiff’s and a defense perspective. Attendees will learn what to look for when prosecuting or defending the most common wage and hour cases.

Please join the L&E and Barristers Sections for a follow-up discussion to the ongoing L&E Nuts & Bolts Series. This roundtable event will explore various hypothetical situations involving the initial procedures of employment law, retaliation/whistleblower claims, with a focus on wage and hour litigation (the topic of the L&E Nuts and Bolts Part IV), and/or scenarios from the group.
