Upcoming Events

The Labor & Employment Law Section, in conjunction with the Barristers Section, is presenting a “Nuts and Bolts” series of seminars. The presentations will cover fundamental areas of employment law and procedures that will be useful to anyone practicing employment law. A roundtable discussion will follow a week after each Nuts and Bolts program to give practicioners time to explore hypotheticals and ask questions in a laid back setting.

Wednesday, June 10, 2015, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Please join the ACBA Labor and Employment and Barristers Sections for the third program in the Labor and Employment Nuts & Bolts Series.

Part III will cover disability discrimination and retaliation claims. Three experienced practicioners will discuss what constitutes a disability under FEHA and ADA, how the interactive process of determining a reasonable accommodation is supposed to proceed, what to look for when taking a plaintiff's disability discrimination case, and what defense counsel should consider when seeking to defeat a disability discrimination case.

Wednesday, June 17, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Would you like to sit down with seasoned labor and employment law attorneys for an informal discussion on the ins and outs of practicing L&E law in Alameda County? Would you like to share your experience with newer attorneys over light refreshments and a glass of wine? Please join the L&E and Barristers Sections for a follow-up discussion to the ongoing L&E Nuts & Bolts Series. This roundtable event will explore various hypothetical situations involving the initial procedures of employment law, disability discrimination claims, and/or scenarios from the group.
