Alternative Dispute Resolution Section

About the Section

The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section promotes litigation alternatives by providing a forum for information-exchange and discussion, and serving as a liaison with the judiciary. The Section, led by the Executive Committee, also presents several MCLEs and networking opportunities throughout the year.

Upcoming Events

Mindfulness ImageTuesday, March 17, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Please join the ACBA ADR, Barristers, and Family Law Sections for a presentation offering mindfulness insights and techniques specifically designed for attorneys.

Mindfulness transforms our behavior and the structure of our brain.  Recent studies have shown that paying attention to your moment-by-moment experience helps concentration, and can heighten your ability to make empathetic connections with others. Practicing mindfulness also helps reduce the stress lawyers face due to the demands of the profession.

Wednedsday April 8, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Utilize Technology to Enhance Your Mediation and Law Practice

Please join the ACBA ADR, Barristers, Labor and Employment, and Trial Practice sections for a presentation on how to enhance your legal and mediation practice through the use of new technology.

Are you often running from the office, to the court, to client meetings? This program will provide better insight on how to use technology in the office and while on-the-go to streamline your practice.

Tuesday, June 2, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m

Listening Your Way to Better Client and Lawyer Relationships

Please join the ACBA ADR Section for a presentation by mediator Daniel Bowling on the importance of listening for all relationships, especially relationships with clients, co-counsel, and opposing counsel. Daniel will discuss the nature of authentic conversation and the importance of mindfulness. He will also cover the three distinctions that transform listening and will give participants an opportunity at the end of the program to practice the techniques they have learned in small groups.
