Now Accepting Nominations!

Join us as we celebrate the volunteers who provide pro bono services through the Volunteer Legal Services Corporation (VLSC).

In addition to honoring our volunteers, there will be an exciting silent auction, dinner, awards presentation, and remarks by special guest Frank Wu, Dean of UC Hastings College of the Law.

Help make the night special for our volunteers by nominating them for our two annual awards: Volunteer of the Year and Mentor of the Year. Please nominate individuals who volunteered their time with VLSC in 2012, and meet the following criteria.

The Volunteer of the Year Award was established by VLSC to recognize the outstanding efforts of our volunteers. Recipients are volunteer attorneys who deserve recognition for their efforts to increase access to justice for low income people in Alameda County by committing their time and energy to volunteer at clinics, accept pro bono case referrals, or mobilize other attorneys to volunteer with VLSC.

The Mentor of the Year Award was established by VLSC to recognize the outstanding efforts of our more experienced volunteers who have demonstrated a long-term commitment to and have promoted the importance of pro bono work by acting as a mentor to other attorneys. It is an award to honor those who help shape the future of pro bono activities through their commitment in guiding and supporting less experienced and/or new attorneys. Through their service, mentors bring a sense of pride and promote the legal profession's honor and dignity.

For more information, please review the Awards Criteria

VLSC’s Administrative Committee and staff will review the nominations and submit recommendations to the VLSC Board of Directors for final approval. The awards will be presented at the VLSC Volunteer Recognition Event, Justice for All: Celebrating Pro Bono, on May 22, 2013.

All completed Nomination Forms and supporting materials must be received by mail, fax or email no later than Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.
