Berkeley Journal of African-American Law & Policy Symposium

The Berkeley Journal of African-American Law & Policy (BJALP) would like to cordially invite you to join us at our annual symposium on Monday, March 3rd, 2014 at UC Berkeley School of Law. This year’s symposium, 25 Years From Now: The Case for Diversity and Future of Affirmative Action in the Wake of Fisher and Schuette, will bring together a diverse group of advocates, practitioners, and scholars to dissect both the constitutional and practical implications of the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Fisher v. University of Texas and its upcoming decision in Schuette v. Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action. We look forward to engaging in an open and detailed discussion of the arguments for and against race-based affirmative action.

Our symposium will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 6:30 pm. The event is free of charge and will offer a unique opportunity to engage these issues, network with leaders in the field, and dialogue with local students, professors, and attorneys. In addition to our speaking schedule, a catered lunch will be provided during our Keynote Address and an evening reception will follow the close of the program. Please feel free to contact Frankie Garland with any questions, or visit our symposium webpage for more information:
