Do you have all the specialty MCLE credits you need for the State Bar of California compliance deadline? If not, register for MCLE Compliance Countdown, a full day of MCLE programs designed to cover all of the specialty credit required by the State Bar. Speakers include Alameda County Judges, former Senator and current CEO of the State Bar, Joe Dunn, and experts on Legal Ethics including law professors, mediators and large law firm partners.

8:30 am - 9:00 am • Registration and Breakfast

9:00 am - 11:00 am • Current Developments in Legal Ethics: Substance Abuse and the Alameda County Lawyer
Professor Carol Langford will explore the current legal landscape for the first hour and share prevention and detection methods of substance abuse in the second hour Learn about the common ethical mistakes lawyers make and how to avoid them. 1 hour of legal ethics and 1 hour of Substance Abuse MCLE credit will be provided.

11:15 am - 12:15 pm • Ensuring Civility in our Profession
Judge Robert D. McGuiness, Jeff Vucinich, Herman Papa, and Steve Brewer will present a multi-media program which includes videos, voicemails, and vignettes of lawyers highlighting the importance of civility, and providing tips to maintain decorum and respect. 1 hour of legal ethics MCLE credit will be provided.

12:15 pm - 1:00 pm • Lunch Discussion: Changes at the State Bar: What every Lawyer Should Know
Enjoy a delicious lunch and a presentation by Joe Dunn, CEO of the State Bar of California and Rowena Gargalicana, ACBA Board President.

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm • Alameda County Judges Panel: Lawyers Behaving Badly
Judges Wynn Carvill (Dept. 21), Stewart Hing (Dept. 513), and Judge C. Don Clay (Dept. 1 and Presiding Judge) will share stories and examples from their personal experiences sitting on the bench. This is sure to be an entertaining panel!
2 hours of legal ethics MCLE credit will be provided.

3:15 pm - 4:15 pm • Bias: Addressing it From a Place of Awareness, Rather Than a Place of Blame
Yolanda Jackson, Deputy Executive Director and Diversity Director of BASF, will share and interactively develop strategies and tools on how to better deal with you own bias and the bias of others in an ever increasing multi-cultural, multi-gender, multi-orientation, multi-generational, etc., environment.
1 hour of elimination of bias MCLE credit will be provided.

4:15 pm - 5:15 pm • Eliminating Bias in Negotiation
Judge James Ware (Ret.) will share with attorneys how, when, where and why bias develops, as well as how to identify bias in others and within themselves. This program explores how bias can affect attorneys and clients during negation, and how awareness can build trust and rapport in the process.
1 hour of elimination of bias MCLE credit will be provided.
