Join Alameda County Superior Court Judges Jo-Lynn Q. Lee and Robert McGuiness and seasoned San Francisco trial lawyer Paul Lahaderne of Sedgwick LLP to learn about the motions most often made during civil jury and bench trials. This program will cover:
  • motions to bifurcate/sever issues
  • motions for nonsuit and to re-open
  • motions for mistrial
  • motions for directed verdict or judgment
  • motions to amend pleadings to conform to proof (and how to anticipate and defeat them)
  • motions for continuances
  • The panelists will also discuss common evidentiary motions such as motions to strike or omit testimony or other evidence, requests to admonish jurors, offers of proof, motions to omit or exclude expert testimony, and 402 hearings.

Judge Lee is a Direct Calendar judge in Department 30. She specializes in asbestos litigation and has presided over numerous complex trials. Judge Lee was appointed to the Superior Court in 2002.
