Step 1 of 5: Event Information

Mediating Same-Sex Dissolutions: Overcoming Bias & Achieving Cultural Competency

12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
Registration Closes:
With the lifting of Proposition 8 and the extension of federal benefits to married same-sex couples, an increasing number of lesbian and gay men will be marrying in California. Inevitably, there will be more domestic partnership and marital dissolutions, and mediators will be called upon to handle these dissolutions. This program will address the sensitive issue of the mediator's sexual orientation: when does it matter, how will the parties perceptions affect the mediator's work, and how can a straight mediator gain the cultural competence and sensitivity to be most effective in handling these mediations.

Please join us for this brown bag training.

*This CLE will take place at ACBA's NEW office location: 1000 Broadway, Suite 480 Oakland, CA
