EBCLC’s housing team is hiring for 3 different positions (full postings attached): 

  • Deputy Director: Our deputy director will focus the administration of our team, composed of 15 advocates, as well as the broader organization of EBCLC. This position, which does not require a JD, is essential to supporting the diverse work of our team, from facilitating our clinical program, to overseeing grants, our intake team, tenant rental assistance, and several other programs. 
  • Staff Attorney: You’ll be joining 9 other housing staff attorneys, whose practice focuses primarily on eviction defense, rent board hearings, and subsidized housing advocacy. In addition, all staff attorneys are clinical supervisors who supervise law students throughout the year.  

City of Manteca – Deputy City Attorney: Under general supervision of the City Attorney, the Deputy City Attorney performs civil legal and select criminal work of a complex nature (including but not limited to contracts, litigation, policy, ordinance drafting, personnel/employment matters, real estate transactions, land use matters, and day-to-day advice), plus deals with code enforcement and/or related prosecutions. SF Public Defender’s Office – Internships: The Office’s nationally recognized program is designed to give students not just an understanding of the criminal justice system, but hands-on experience with representing clients. Interns are assigned to work with a staff attorney, writing motions, meeting clients, attending case conferences, reviewing investigation results, and attending consultations with experts. Interns certified to practice law may also be given the opportunity to argue motions and make appearances on behalf of clients in court.
