FAMILY LAW ATTORNEY NEEDED IN CASTRO VALLEY, CA – All for the Family Legal Clinic, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit legal clinic dedicated to serving low income and middle income families in the Bay Area. We are looking to hire a 1099 contract attorney. The contract term will be for one year, with the likelihood of it being renewed or turning in to an opportunity for full time W-2 employment. Employee position also available for an experienced attorney. After attorney builds up a full case load, they should expect to bill between 25-30 hours per week, with the possibility of additional caseload in the future. Attorney will handle family law cases, mostly related to divorce, custody, and restraining orders. Most cases will be in Alameda County; however we do also practice in Contra Costa, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and San Francisco counties. Every so often we take a case in Solano County as well.
 
Requirements:

  • Active California Bar Membership required
  • Preferred  1 year of experience in Family Law (internships will be considered)  
  • Self-starter, as most work can be done from home
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks without much guidance and training
  • Ability to come into the office in Castro Valley at least 2 days per week for meetings with clients, to check mail, and to discuss cases as needed (during covid not required)
  • Detail oriented as filings and briefs require extensive attention to detail
  • Ability to do own legal research and writing as needed; Familiarity with family law forms
  • Spanish speaker preferred, but not required.
  • Must be able to get to court hearings as required

Associate Position with Civil Rights and Worker’s Rights Boutique in Oakland: Levy Vinick Burrell Hyams LLP, a leading plaintiff’s employment law firm in Oakland, California, seeks an associate to work on litigation matters representing employees in individual and class action cases.  The associate will have extensive client contact, and will work on cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, breach of contract, and wage and hour violations.  The associate may also represent clients who have been subjected to harassment and/or discrimination in schools, housing and other arenas.  Our firm brings tenacity, creativity and technology to bear in our cases, so the associate will be involved in intense pre-complaint investigation, conducting focus groups, creating mediation videos, and case planning, in addition to drafting and responding to discovery, legal research and writing. Applicants should have 0-5 years of experience in litigation, preferably in the field of employment law.  Successful candidates will be highly motivated, possess excellent writing, analytical and people skills, value a team environment, and will be prepared to work independently and assume significant client responsibilities.  Strong computer skills are required, as is a demonstrated commitment to employment law or civil rights work.  Bilingual abilities are a plus.  Experience using Excel and video editing software is desirable, but not required.  Associate will work remotely with eventual return to our offices in Oakland.
